How is my hair journey going?

Today is August 15, 2019. I am loving my natural 4C hair. I am learning how to care for my hair. It took a while but we finally here. I am doing a lot less. I was doing way too much on my hair before! I have been simple with my routine. I wash my hair every other week. I try to style my hair on Sunday or Monday and that style will be the style of the week. I try to make sure that I cover my hair at night. Also, I avoid too much manipulation. Less is more.

When it comes to my personal hair care. I had to cut a lot of dead ends off my hair. I do not remember the last time I trimmed my ends but it was necessary. I was very careful. I could feel the pieces that had to go and I let them go. I had many tiny knots at the very end of my hair which I am sure caused my hair to stop growing. These tiny knots also, made it difficult to do much of anything because I was constantly pulling and breaking my hair. Now, that the knots of my hair are gone; my hair can breathe, move and do what I want it to do.

I am developing my hair routine weekly. I am now implementing protein treatments (once a month), deep conditioning (the third week of the month), and more of the Liquid. Cream. and Oil method (every other week when I style my hair). It is working for me. Even though it takes more time. I am willing to put in the work to help care for and strengthen my natural hair. I definitely want my hair to grow but in order for my hair to grow I have to take my time and learn my hair. I look forward to seeing how much progress my hair will have by the end of this year.

How is your hair journey going? Comment below. I want to know how you are succeeding or failing. You do not have to be natural. This is a conversation for everyone. How are you taking care of your hair? What products are you using? As you can see my hair now shining and starting grow longer by the month. We are in this journey together. I look forward to reading your comments. Sincerely, Kianna Brown.

  1. I’ve been natural for about 5 years now and my journey has been rough. While my hair has grown immensely, I just find that 4c hair require too much maintanence, so I either just keep it straight or throw a wig on lol

  2. Wow! 5 years. I agree! 4C hair is not for the weak. It takes a lot to manage it. The results are beautiful when you take the time to take care of it though. Lol… wigs are life for some people. Do what works for you. How do you straighten your hair?

  3. I straighten mine about once a month and use both biosilk serum and crème of nature argan oil heat protect to protect from damage. I blow dry my hair with the Revlon blow drying brush ( I don’t know the exact name lol but it def cut’s down drying time and get’s my hair straighter.) After that I straighten my hair using the chase method. Once done I apply just a little bit of the biosilk serum on my hair and BOOM! I’m done lol. Even though it sucks that it takes a little over 2 hours for me to do my hair, the results are totally worth it!
