LET’S TALK ABOUT IT…
Today is August 15, 2019. I am loving my natural 4C hair. I am learning how to care for my hair. It took a while but we finally here. I am doing a lot less. I was doing way too much on my hair before! I have been simple with my routine. I wash my hair every other week. I try to style my hair on Sunday or Monday and that style will be the style of the week. I try to make sure that I cover my hair at night. Also, I avoid too much manipulation. Less is more.
When it comes to my personal hair care. I had to cut a lot of dead ends off my hair. I do not remember the last time I trimmed my ends but it was necessary. I was very careful. I could feel the pieces that had to go and I let them go. I had many tiny knots at the very end of my hair which I am sure caused my hair to stop growing. These tiny knots also, made it difficult to do much of anything because I was constantly pulling and breaking my hair. Now, that the knots of my hair are gone; my hair can breathe, move and do what I want it to do.
I am developing my hair routine weekly. I am now implementing protein treatments (once a month), deep conditioning (the third week of the month), and more of the Liquid. Cream. and Oil method (every other week when I style my hair). It is working for me. Even though it takes more time. I am willing to put in the work to help care for and strengthen my natural hair. I definitely want my hair to grow but in order for my hair to grow I have to take my time and learn my hair. I look forward to seeing how much progress my hair will have by the end of this year.
How is your hair journey going? Comment below. I want to know how you are succeeding or failing. You do not have to be natural. This is a conversation for everyone. How are you taking care of your hair? What products are you using? As you can see my hair now shining and starting grow longer by the month. We are in this journey together. I look forward to reading your comments. Sincerely, Kianna Brown.
Genesis 1:2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the surface of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
In the beginning, Earth had no shape. It was dark and empty. As, I read this part of the bible earth is lifeless. The tone shifts and things begins to happen. Its says that God’s Spirit moved over the waters. I do not know about you but this excites me. I am now introduced to another part of the creator. His spiritual side. The first thing that God did before creating anything was get in tune with his Spirit and move by it. This is a word for me. Before you do anything today, examine yourself. Are you moving by your Spirit or your flesh?
I encourage you today to get in tune with the creator. Pray. Read. Worship. Meditate. Align yourself with his will for your life. God is the one who created you and the only one who can show you how and why you were created. This season for me is all about learning how to effectively pray, worship, and meditate God. Today, I am inspired to move by my Spirit. The Holy Spirit. Will you join me today?
I want to be able to feel what I feel without responding negatively.
Feelings… We all have them. Some are good and some bad. What am I supposed to do with my feelings? My feelings change so much.
I need to get my feelings under control. SELF-CONTROL. The ability to control oneself, in particular one’s emotions and desires or the expression of them in one’s behavior, especially in difficult situations.
God tells me that self control is one of the fruit of the spirit. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such there is no law” Galatians 6:22-23 NIV.
I need to get connected to my source! If I am I am going to handle my feelings, I need to get guidance from the one who created my feelings. I can get connected through prayer, worship, and meditation. Through this process God’s spirit will grow within me. His fruit will show up and flow throughout my life.
I cannot allow my feelings to control me. Say this with me, I have power over my feelings! I control my feelings. My feelings do not control me. When we learn to control our feelings; we gain more control over our life. Will you join me on this journey in mastering our feelings?
I am determined to add more fruit and veggies to my daily lifestyle. I enjoy drinking my fruit and veggies rather than chew them. So, daily I make myself a smoothie. It has really made a difference in my energy level. Smoothies have cut back the amount of food I consume. It is improving my hair, skin, and nails. Since, having a baby. I have become more aware of what I put in my body. The food we eat impacts every aspect of our lives. I want to walk in good health. I am changing what I eat. I look forward to seeing where my body will be in 2020. With consistency and faith I am sure I will reach beyond my health goals.
MOVE FORWARD! No matter how you may feel. No matter what you see. Move forward in faith. Move forward with your confidence grounded in Jesus. No one said this journey would be easy. So, today I move forward in my walk with God. I do not care how I may feel. Faith over feelings today. It does not matter what I see. I was told to walk by faith not by sight. Instead of running away from my problems. I face them head on.
This season has truly been something else. As I intentionally make a decision daily to put God first it feels as if the heat has been turnt up on every other area of my life. I am determined to move forward. Move forward inspite of any and everything. I hope you all have a wonderful day in Jesus name. As we move forward, I pray that God will lead and guide us through life. Teach us how to pray, worship and meditate on you effectively.
I am on a mission to learn how to pray, worship, and meditate effectively. Have you noticed that the people who do not serve God know how to serve whoever they worship well. We as christians seem to know of God but do not know God personally. I want to know God for myself. I want a real relationship with the creator. Since, I am taking it back to the beginning. God is introduced to me as the creator. The maker of heaven and earth; everything within.
This thought came to mind. FIND TIME! In the midst of my everyday life; it is crucial that I find time for God. God is the source. A source can be defined as “a place, person, or thing from which something comes or can be obtained.” I come from God. Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth”. Since I am living on the earth; it means that I can find my purpose within the one who created me. God is my creator and in order to know how to function daily; I must find time to connect with my source. Everyday is not perfect. I do not wake up every morning with a smile on my face. I do know that when I connect myself with my source. I immediately get connected to my purpose. My purpose gives my life meaning. It is the reason I constantly move forward. It is the reason I get up and continue to make an effort to be intentional with my social media.
I am encouraged today to find time for God. The creator of life. Will you join me today in finding time for God?
I cannot know God personally if I do not have a relationship with God. I have been told that a relationship with God starts with prayer. It starts with worship. It starts with meditating on his words. How many of us really know how to pray, worship, and meditate? If I am being completely honest with myself. I do not know. So, my prayer this morning consisted of me asking God to direct me. I want to know how to pray, meditate and worship effectively. God hears my prayers. I could hear God say “Many of my people do not know how to worship me. My people do not know how to pray to me. My people do not know how to meditate. You are not alone”. I am so thankful that God still speaks today.
I was encouraged to go BACK TO THE BEGINNING. That’s right Genesis 1:1. If I am going to grow in God in any way, shape, or form. I must go back to the old testament and allow it to build into the new testament. “In the beginning God created the heaven and earth”. If I can believe this very verse. Everything else to follow in the bible will flow.
Genesis 1:1 informs me that it all started with God. The word begin can be defined as “start”. From the start the bible wants us to know the creator. God! God is the creator of the heaven and the earth. Immediately I can see myself in the bible. I have never seen it this way til now. God created the earth and I am living on the earth. I too am a product of the creator. Everything within the heaven and earth is God made. This brings gladness to my heart. I am a creation of God. I am not who people say I am. I am not who the enemy tells me to be. I am a creation of God. I was created to bring glory to the creator of the heaven and earth. Woman you too were created by God. WE were created by God for God. I encourage you to seek the kingdom of God with me. Do you know who you are? If you do not. I AM INSPIRED TO TAKE YOU BACK TO THE BEGINNING!
Seek can be defined as “attempt to find (something). I am on a mission to find the kingdom of God and his righteousness. Righteous means (of a person or conduct) morally right or justifiable; virtuous. Basically, I want to be right with God. In Matthew 6:33 KJV “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you“. I believe that the first step to getting everything you need from God consist of finding his kingdom and his righteousness. I need to find God’s authority and the right way to live here on earth. It is only right that I start at the beginning.
Join me on this journey through the bible as we seek the kingdom of God and his righteousness to learn how to effectively pray, worship and meditate on our creator.
